Hi all-

I was tempted to post this in feedback, as I'd really like feedback, but opted for the gallery in the end. But please leave feedback, comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated.

The color scheme is inspired by Ali's Azumi, of course.

I love the robes, and the belt hangings are great, especially the patterns you've added.

The face is suitably mask like and has a very serene feel

The only thing that might benefit from a change is the outstretched hand, the colour looks a bit flat and uniform(in the photo, it may well be better in the flesh). Unless, of cource, you're aiming for a pancake makeup look for it ?

You might want to play with it a bit to give a hint of knuckles/nails (These tend to paint themselves if the hands flexed)

but that's a very minor niggle (and a great save with the sword) for a fab figure :D

Well, it looks like you have some crazy good freehand skills for the sash patterns. I like the way you placed the patterns too. I think they enhance without distracting. The color scheme is obviously more muted and dark, but that's preference and I think it works and the tones are balanced. The eyes looks awesome!! I think the wash in the folds of the robe may be a bit thick (in 4th and 5th pic down). I like the highlights and blending. I agree that the hand could use some attention. The sculpt is flat and some paint tricks might make it looks less stiff. Otherwise, she's a very nice piece!

overall that's a lovely paintjob. My only crit would be that it comes across as slightly flat. What I mean by that is the colours could use (in my opinion) a wee bitty more contrast. The white could be whiter, the blacks blacker, and the reds redder. Of course, that's very much a subjective comment - if you prefer a more subdued scheme then of course stick with what you like. It's also very possible that it's the photography rather than the painting that has flattened the mini a bit. Did you run it through photoshop or a similar photo editing software? If not, give it a shotty - it can help a lot (I'd demonstrate for you, but I'm not at home just now, and therefor dont have access to my PC :( )

Anyway, that minor niggle aside, it's a lovely job, and as folks have already said, nice freehand, too :)

Nice piece, overall, David.

I'd echo the comment about the increase in contrast.

We had an excellent post on PB a couple of days ago - LINKY - which sums up in 2 pictures what I couldn't adequately put into words.

On the whole, lovely though ;)
